[ the opp ]
Allie's book, Witch-Hunt, sounds pretty interesting and seems to deal with the same issue of "human nature" that I discussed in my horse post. That issue is that people and society in general will abandon logic whenever it can if it can submit to human nature, which requires no understanding. Human nature here, in this case, is to single out scapegoats; while today, three hundred years after the book's setting, there are of course no witch-hunts, but the same issue arises. Three hundred years ago, it was strange women; sixty years ago it was Jews, and X years from now Y group will without question be blamed for Z problem. This type of thing never goes away. Sad, really.
